CLEAR

CLEAR is a Cornwall based charity supporting people who have been affected by domestic abuse, sexual abuse and other emotional trauma. Clear’s mission is to help children, young people and adults to heal from emotional trauma and to prevent and reduce its occurrence.

Brief – Modern design and functionality

Carolyn Webster, Chief Executive of CLEAR approached ABG Design and Channel Digital to create a new website, as their existing one was no longer fit for purpose.  As well as a new design, there were to be big changes in the page content, structure, and features for the site, including the capability for CLEAR themselves to be able to create and edit pages. CLEAR also wanted to have the option to grow the website to include a staff and trustees-only areas, protected by individual user accounts. Whilst this was not part of the initial build, understanding the growth requirements is useful when we help businesses choose the right platform for their website build.  ABG Design created up-to-date branding and designs, and Channel Digital turned those designs into a user friendly modern and responsive website.  View their website here. 

Technology

A Joomla Content Management System (CMS) was the agreed platform, as it was better at handling larger volumes of content and has the ability to add powerful features and great levels of customization.  Additionally, Joomla’s capability to easily create and manage different types of user accounts, along with the ability to define who should have access to which areas of the site, meant that having a staff and trustees areas would be straightforward to set up.  In fact, since the site launched this feature has been implemented, allowing for an area that includes dedicated staff and trustees content, document downloads, and an events / calendar system!
